Speculative objects
An ongoing series of objects, some of which are inscribed with words, phrases or fragments of quotations and others which have an associated, elliptical story or narrative. (The former are realised with the help of a printer, engraver or sign writer.)
Reflecting on the previous lives and purpose of these objects has prompted me either to use them directly or in related films. The original purpose of each object helps both to inform the choice of things I work with and subsequently the particular words and phrases ascribed to them.
