The following day went without a hitch. The sky was reasonably clear and there were few signs of the previous night’s chaos. The tent was a bit sodden but still in one piece. I set the cameras going once again and tried to keep myself awake. By around two o’clock in the afternoon I had run out of both steam and film so decided to head home. The uninterrupted 24-hour film of Lord’s Bridge had not quite materialised as planned but perhaps I would be able to return another day. My visit lasted exactly 30 hours and during this time I spotted a variety of wildlife including rabbits, pheasants, partridges, frogs, grasshoppers, (the smell of) foxes, a mink, and also various birds, some of whom were in the habit of perching on the Ryle’s dishes. The periodic resetting of these caused the birds to flap off in an amusing manner.
